EI0K celebrated Arthur Guinness 300th Birthday over 19th to 21st September

EI0K Activation for Arthur Guinness’s 300th Birthday – 19th to 21st September

To mark the 300th birthday of Arthur Guinness, the legendary Irish brewer born in 1725, the Kildare Amateur Radio Club activated the club callsign EI0K as a special event station between the 19th and 21st of September. Special QSL cards were designed and used over the weekend to commemorate the event.

The station operated on HF, VHF, SSTV, and FT8, celebrating the remarkable legacy of Arthur Guinness, whose name is synonymous with Irish heritage and brewing excellence. During the event, club members operated on various HF bands, inviting amateur radio enthusiasts from around the world to connect, exchange greetings, and join in recognizing one of Ireland’s most iconic figures.

Special QSL Card to commerate the event

Special QSL cards will be issued to participating stations, making the celebration an engaging experience for both operators and collectors, and strengthening the sense of community in the global amateur radio network.

Well done and thanks to all the operators and SWLs who helped build the station on Friday evening and operate the bands on Saturday and Sunday. Thanks also to all the SWLs for their help and hope they learned something about setting up a station.

A special thanks to Pawel for the BBQ; it was much appreciated.
